Why I Don't Like to Say That I'm Saved

When I hear others say that they are saved, I ponder just a bit because it sounds so complete and final. Like they have made it to the finish line, it sounds like they are safe and their job is done. It makes me think about the games that we played when we were little. Games like kick ball and baseball. When you made it back to the home plate you were safe and they couldn't get you out any more. That was the final destination and you could finally breathe a sigh of relief because you had made it through.

I don't think I could ever think of this way of life in that manner. For me this is a daily walk. A journey that I am on with Christ. Where I strive every step of the way to be closer to the Lord. As long as I am still here I feel as though I have work to do. I do not believe that my salvation is based on works but God is my goal, my hope and my motivation. So I work daily to make Heaven my home so that I can spend my forever with Him.

Keep in mind that we are all sinners. There are sins of commission that we commit willfully and sins of omission that we commit unaware that we are even doing anything wrong. So it is important to repent. I repent daily. I don't think any of us can ever be sure that our salvation is secured.

However I do believe that if I continue on this path, that I will be saved one day. But in the meantime I pray that the Lord uses me to encourage, inspire and uplift someone else. So that they will seek out a closer relationship with him as well. The Lord doesn't just want me to make it in he wants us all to return home to him.

In the end I want to make my father in Heaven proud. I want to be found worthy. This is my walk, my journey and I am in it for the long haul. So second by second, moment by moment and step by step I am asking the Lord to guide me as I continue on my extraordinary walk.

KJV 1 Peter 4:18-19 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

KJV 1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

KJV Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
