A Good Long Walk

There are times when I don't feel as close to the Lord. Despite praying and reading His word. Sometimes I just feel like I am not doing enough, like their is something else I could or should be doing. I always want to do more for the Lord and I always want more of Him. But in those times He seems so far away.

We can all be happy and contented when we feel close to the Lord. When he is speaking directly to us and working things out in our lives. In the midst of being blessed and having your prayers answered it is easy to feel connected and close to Him. Because you can feel Him and you can see how He is manifested in your life.

I know that we are never alone and I know that He is always there. But I do believe that He is closer to us in some moments than He is in others. And in those times it feels like a separation and any perception of separation no matter real or imagined, can be unbearable because being in His presence is just so good.

But I have a little trick that works for me...a good long walk. During my walks I focus on the Lord. I pray, I ask Him questions. I do everything I can to tune into God and block out the distractions of the world. It feels like it's just me and Him and I am able to talk to Him about everything especially how I feel.

Maybe it is the peace and quiet, the fresh air, being out in nature or maybe even the sunshine. But I really don't think it has anything to do with any of that. For me my mind is able to drift and I receive clear answers, ideas and thoughts on what I should be doing. I am able to speak life and positivity into myself. I always end my walks feeling closer and more connected to him.

So if you are ever feeling far from the Lord, change your environment for a little while. Take a good long walk and just talk to Him. It works for me and I hope it will work for you.

Deuteronomy 31:8 - And the LORD, he [it is] that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You.”

Psalm 91:14-15 “Because he has focused his love on me, I will deliver him. I will protect him because he knows my name. When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him.”

Psalm 123:2 “We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.”
