Fill Your Quiet Time With God

In today's world we are all so busy. Doing one thing and already planning and thinking about the next thing that we need to do. From the time we wake up, until the time we go to sleep, we are always on the go. It's hard to complete every task on our list, let alone start or create a new one.

But sometimes in life we have to just stop, and make the time. The pace of life is not going to change. We may need to look over how we are spending our time and prioritize somethings. And when we really pay attention we will notice that we do have time. Time not spent purposefully.

Small moments here and there throughout the day. How many times have you picked up your cell phone and scrolled through...sometimes for an hour or more? How much radio do you listen to? How much time do you spend worrying about what you need to do and what's going on around you? We are constantly thinking about the things of this world. Constantly stimulating our minds to look at something, to listen to something, and to do something. It's as if we are afraid to be quiet and alone with our own thoughts.

How often do you just get quiet and listen to your thoughts? Paying attention to the ideas, people and things that come to your mind. Sometime that's the only way God can communicate with us...but we have to take the time to listen.

I am going to challenge you to change your thought patterns and create brief moments of quiet time during your day. And to fill as many of those moments with God. Instead of grabbing your phone while you are waiting, talk to God, think on Him. Instead of turning your radio on in the car, say a pray while you are driving or even pray in the spirit until you make it to your location. Take time to praise and worship Him without the music going. Create quiet times for just you and Him, time alone with God.

This is something I do all the time. Sometimes I hold a 'God you are session' in my car, where I tell Him everything He is to me. Sometimes it's all about me thanking Him. There are times when I tell Him the things that I am hoping for and there are times when I just pray for people. It can be anything you want it to be but it will be time spent with God. Time where your mind and thoughts return to Him. Where He can see your faith in action.

You can create these quiet times throughout your entire day. When you wake up in the middle of the night, on your lunch break, before you go to sleep, even while you are getting dressed for the day. It's up to you, just make the conscious decision to fill your mind with less of this world and more of Him. You may even be surprised at how this changes the quality of your day. This will also build your relationship with Him. Just give it a try.

Psalm 1:1-4 1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Matthew 6:6 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

James 4:8 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Psalm 46:10 10Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
