The enemy that I am talking about is the one that we all have in common. He is the devil, the chief prince of all evil spirits. The deceiver, the accuser, the slanderer and the father of lies. He has many names, none of them good because there is nothing good about him.
We know who he is but many of us live life denying that he even exists. Which is his greatest trick because if we never acknowledge that he is, we will easily fall for his every scheme. His whole purpose is to cheat us out of our destiny, our true place in God's kingdom, which is above the Angels.
Which is the root of all of his hatred towards us. He couldn't stand the fact that God created us to be above him. He didn't want anyone to be over him, not even God. He wanted to be God. He let his pride get in the way. So he and his followers, about 1/3 of the Angels were cast out of heaven down to earth.
Think about it, the devil and his fallen angels have been here on earth for a long, long time. Long enough to set up principalities, dominions, powers and authorities. That is why satan is considered as the god of this world. As humans our life span is nothing compared to the time satan and his imps have spent down here. The earth is their playground and we are their main focus.
But we must remember the proper order of things... we are above him and the angels. He has no authority over us. The only power he has is the power that we give to him. That is why he comes with all the tricks, schemes and lies. He wants to be the big, bad, boogey man but in reality he is just a defeated foe.
The only way for you to discern the tricks of the enemy from the truth of God is to read God's word. The Bible tells it all. The Bible is our greatest resource when it come to defeating the enemy and standing in our rightful authority. The Bible contains all the truth that the enemy does not want you to know.
Keep this in mind, this world is corrupt. It has been this way a long time. Remember the snake coming into the garden of Eden, all slick and tricky. He deceived Eve and we are still suffering the consequences of her actions. You cannot expect any truth to come out of this world. Actually you can almost guarantee that if it is of this world it's going to be the opposite of God's truth.
We must read God's word, so that we know how to defeat the powers of this world. Read Ephesians 6: 10-18. Pay close attention to what it says about the enemy and pay even more attention to what it tells us to do about it.
Ephesians 6:10-18Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
