The List

God works with each of us individually and in different ways. He speaks clearly to some of us, others He gives dreams and some He leads with motivating thoughts and encouragement. He will speak to you exactly in the manner that you need. He knows what will get your attention. He knows exactly what will motivate you. And what will inspire action from you. But in the end it is still up to us, if we will listen, if we will do the work needed or if we will be obedient to the tasks that He sets before us.

Today I am going to share something personal. What a part of my walk with God looks like. So that you can get a real life picture of what this looks like in your everyday life. Also to help you see how He may be speaking to you. Believe me God loves each and every one of us and He wants to help us all, we just have to listen.

A while ago, after I finished my first book, I received a dream. In the dream, I was shown a list on a white paper. The list contained 8-12 items, maybe 13. As I looked at the list I became instantly aware that this was a list of books that I would write. But as soon as I tried to focus in and read the list, it was taken away. Gone just like that and I woke up immediately. There was something about that dream. It spoke deeply to me and it has never left me.

Over the years since I've received many ideas for books to write. They've come to me in my prayer time. Sometimes it just starts as a thought or a word from someone else, where the full picture develops not long afterwards. I actually have a running list of 3-4 specific books that I need to write, in my head at all times.

When I write a book, the relief of accomplishing one of my tasks is always short lived. So far it never fails, within a month or so, I am given another book to add to the list. The truth be told, I do not like lists, especially unending, incomplete lists. It makes me feel like I've fallen behind, like I'm not done. I hate to leave things unfinished. That's just the type of person that I am. obviously God knows this better than I do. I feel like this is His way to keep just enough pressure on me to keep me on task.

Keeping that dream in mind from a few years ago. I feel like as long as I continue on this path and continue to do the work, that one day this list in my mind, will shrink into completion. Right now I am almost half-way through the list that I was shown in the dream. So, in the meantime I keep walking in faith and obedience to what I know God has shown me. It gives my life purpose. And I love the prompting that I receive from the Lord.

Sometimes life gets in the way and I fall slack or get distracted. The list actually gets heavy like it is weighing on me. But when I focused and make time to work on my tasks. It's much lighter and easier to stay motivated. So, hearing from the Lord is not always a word verbalized. Sometimes it's listening to how you feel. When things get heavy I know it's time to get back on track. Sometimes it's following a dream that just won't leave you. Sometimes it's continuing to do what He's placed deep down in your heart to do.

Think about it, what is God speaking to you to do? What's stopping you? You can make your own list, get started today. Don't worry how it's going to happen, just do the work and watch Him provide. I had no idea what I was doing when I got started I am learning more and more all the time.

John 15:16Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you

Acts2:17 “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”

Deuteronomy5:33 Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

Daniel 1:17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Deuteronomy 28:1And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
