I listen to a lot of worship music. If I could have it my way, it would be the the only music I'd listen too. But I am not always in control of the music that is playing around me. I love how it connects me back to personal experiences. Experiences that I've had during my walk with the Lord. It's also comforting to know that someone else has had the same experiences and knows exactly how I feel.
It's amazing how I could've listened to a song, a hundred times before but on the hundredth time, it speaks to me deeply. For example this song, I Will Follow by Tasha Cobb [(217) Tasha Cobbs Leonard - I Will Follow (Audio) - YouTube]. When she break that song down... my oh my. My truth was in her words. It was as if my heart opened and I couldn't help but to sing the words with her.
"... I have decided to follow Jesus,
cause Your love won't lead me astray
cause the cross won't lead me astray
cause Your Hand won't lead me astray
cause The Blood won't lead me astray..."
This took me to a place of thinking about when I first received His Holy Spirit. I know that I'd never been able to have that experience had Jesus not shed his blood on the cross. My encounter was in direct relation to Jesus sacrifice. My encounter is proof of the power that His blood still has today. God's grace and mercy is so amazing because I didn't deserve it. None of us do but we have access to Him in this way just because he loves us, just that much.
I love how music can take you to moments like this. Bringing back the full emotion, tears and all. As if it was happening all over again. That is music speaking to your soul.
Just for that one experience, I will continue to follow Jesus. Trusting in His love, The Cross, His Hand and that The Blood will not lead me astray.
What song takes you there?
Psalm 28:7 7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
Psalm 40:33And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Ephesians 5:1919Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD;
Psalms 98:1-7 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
